Double Glazed Glass Replacement Broken or Blown Double Glazing

Double glaze window or door glass replacement is necessary when the glass has become damaged, cracked or fogged up, reducing its energy efficiency and overall effectiveness.

This typically happens when the seal between the glass panes fails, allowing moisture to enter and condense inside.

Generally, both panes are replaced together to maintain the unit’s integrity and insulation properties.

After the measure up we’ll send the glass for manufacturing which normally takes 3-5 days* special orders may take longer.

We charge minimum £180* for any normal glass up to 1 square meter and £220* for toughened supply and installed.

We offer a 20% discount on three or more glass replacements, with additional savings for orders of 10 or more units.

The key differences between toughened (or tempered) glass and normal (or annealed) glass panes lie in their manufacturing processes, strength, safety features, and applications.

Toughened glass (Tempered Glass)

Toughened glass is 4 to 5 times stronger than standard glass. When broken, it shatters into small, blunt pieces rather than sharp shards, which significantly reduces the risk of injury.

Normal Glass (Annealed Glass)

Normal glass is weaker than toughened glass and more susceptible to breaking under impact or thermal stress. When it breaks, it shatters into sharp, jagged pieces that can cause serious injury.

Double glazed windows feature two panes of glass, whereas triple glazed windows have three. Triple glazed windows typically offer greater energy efficiency but come at a higher cost.

If there is condensation between the panes of a double-glazed glass pane in a window or door, known as misted or blown pane it is a sign that the seal has failed and the glass needs to be replaced entirely.

If condensation is on the surface of the glass, it’s likely due to poor ventilation, and simply replacing the glass may not fully resolve the issue.
