Double glazed glass replacement means removing a broken, cracked or smashed sealed glass unit and fitting a new made-to-measure unit in the existing frame. You keep your uPVC or aluminium window or door and replace only the glass.

A damaged pane rarely means a new window. Send us a photo and we’ll confirm what needs replacing before you book.
A crack takes away much of the glass’s strength, so the pane can give way suddenly.
Impact damage or a break-in has left the unit broken and the opening exposed.
Thermal stress, frame movement or tiny edge damage can crack glass without anything hitting it.

Appointment arranged for my convenience. A bit expensive but “Mr Luke”, who attended, methodically worked through to accurately diagnose the fault and rectify a tilt and turn window so well worth sorting to ensure working properly and secure. .

Double glazed glass replacement starts from £220 per unit, supply and fit, including VAT. The final price depends on the pane size and glass type: obscure glass from £239, toughened from £264, door glass from £299 and bifold door glass from £599. There’s no call-out charge, and three or more units in one visit get 20% off.
We aim to replace every unit within a week of order confirmation. After we measure up, the unit is made in 3–5 working days, and fitting usually takes one to three hours. Special orders may take longer.
Yes, in most cases. We fit a new sealed unit in your existing uPVC or aluminium frame. If the frame itself is damaged or worn, the whole window or door may need replacing.
No. Both panes are bonded into one sealed unit, so we replace the complete unit. This keeps the insulation and seal intact, which is what stops future misting.
Common causes are thermal stress, when part of the pane heats or cools faster than the rest, movement in the frame, or tiny edge damage from manufacture. Rarely, toughened glass breaks spontaneously. We identify the likely cause and fit a correctly specified replacement.
We prioritise smashed and insecure units and quote the same day from a photo. Standard clear units can often be turned round quickly; toughened, laminated, obscure and door glass is made to measure and takes a few working days. We’ll advise how to make the opening safe meanwhile.
Keep children and pets away and don’t pull out large shards by hand. If it’s safe, tape or cover the opening. Take a clear photo for your quote and any insurance claim, and send it to us. We remove and dispose of the broken unit when we fit the new one.
It’s best not to. A cracked pane can give way suddenly, and toughened glass may shatter completely. The crack also breaks the seal, letting in draughts and moisture, and weakens security.
Toughened glass is heat-treated to be several times stronger than standard annealed glass and breaks into small blunt granules, not sharp shards. UK rules require toughened or laminated safety glass in doors and low-level windows, so we fit it there as standard.
Our 10-year guarantee covers manufacturing faults such as seal failure, condensation and misting. Like any glazing guarantee, it doesn’t cover accidental breakage or break-ins.
Replacing only the sealed glass unit starts from £220, against several hundred pounds or more for a complete new window and frame. Because the frame stays in place there is no making good, so a glass-only replacement is typically up to 70% cheaper and done in one short visit once the unit is made.
